David Motari, Coward
MikeCNN has finally picked up the story that I broke yesterday. According to CNN:
"This is a shocking and deplorable video that is contrary to the high standards that we set for every Marine," Marine Corps spokesman Maj. Chris Perrine said at a news conference Monday night.
"We will investigate this and take appropriate actions," Perrine said.
He said the Marine is being kept safe in view of the anger over the alleged incident.

This is a sick, disgusting and in-humane act of cruelty. I can not even bring myself to watch this video and I certainly hope the media does not decide to show the video. This marine should be punished to the full extent of the law and made an example of. I DON'T WANT THIS MARINE FIGHTING FOR MY COUNTRY!

I tried leaving a message for this A-hole on his blog site, however it is now turned to a private setting.
News flash, this guy is going to wind up kicked out of the freaking Marines, whether the video was real (definitly real)or not. Based on him and his fellow Marines lack of honor and professionalism. Which is some of the main standards to wearing that uniform. I assure you the Marine will not tollerate this kind of deplorable acts.
And, when they do kick your miserable ass out, you better believe it will be broadcasted all over the entire net. And, if this guy decides to leave Hawaii, to fly back to the states, I'll be willing to bet there would be overwhelming mob to great and beat this punk...just my 2 cents

The thing (if it was alive) died instantly when it hit the ground; it (in all likelyhood, since a marine had posession of it) was probably a stray and would have either been killed by other dogs, died of starvation, or contracted a disease that would have killed it. In this sense, he put it out of its misery.

What made it even worse was the fact that they zip-tied his front paws! Even if he did miraculously survive that throw, he wouldn't have gotten away from the scorching heat of the desert. I can understand why Motari did this. Imagine that you had no control over whether you got sent to Iraq or not. Imagine that every day, you walk through this place not knowing if you’ll be blown up, shot, or if you’ll watch your best friend die. You too might become just a little bit barbaric.
I’m not saying, in any way, that tossing the dog off the cliff was right, justified, or defensible.
I am saying that the internet pig-pile on Motari is unfair, and I won’t participate in it. Imagine just how psychologically damaged he had to be to do such a thing. If we looked at a veteran with his legs blown off, we would be full of compassion for him, wouldn’t we?

It's not a big step between killing a puppy and killing a baby. I hope the military does something about it because that guy is going to end up murdering his whole family someday. Total sociopath. I was very disappointed when my son did not get accepted into the military (knee injury,
but after seeing this video, if this is what war makes of our young men, then I am happy to keep him here at home. I can't believe that this marine was all that stable before he enlisted and if the training has turned him in to a "MONSTER", then I am glad he is in protective custody. Not so much for "his" protection, but for the innocent people or other animals he might come in contact, including the fine young men that take serving their country seriously and do U.S. honor. Maybe this was a cheap shot on his part to get sent home and get a fat pension for the rest of his life.. This act is beyond comprehension and I can only imagine his mother and father are not so proud of their soldier son today.

This or anything similar wouldve never happened if it was another marine they found sick wounded and starving by the side of the road who weighs 200 times more then the puppy and eats alot more to no then they wouldve carried him all the way to some command post or something and be rewarded for it but since its a puppy much easier to carry and much easier to fill up lets just toss it off a cliff instead of giving it a chance to possibly find some food for itself since you were to useless to give it some and your friend there with the camera is no better then you are if it was a sensible person you wouldve been shot then thrown off the cliff yourself and the puppy wouldve been saved .. or atleast avenged anyway you will probly die soon by some enraged civillian who saw you do that to a poor puppy and god knows there are so many.

As a former member of the armed forces having served most recently in the Gulf I have to say that most people who go through war and it's associated and often needless killing and bloodshed come out with a respect for life, having watched both friend and foe die in often harrowing and graphic ways both I and my buddies I have spoken to are shocked when we see such behaviour. War does alter your perception of things but in a normal person NOT in the way it has affected this guy - I would say this guy was messed up long before he got into the army and in joining up it has allowed him to explore his darker desires more fully without the normal constrains of society. I would love to see this guy go to a junior school and meet a bunch of kids with their pets and explain what he did and why. Can you imagine how you would feel if your little girl came crying her heart out to you and told you some guy had picked her puppy up and thrown it off a cliff just for some sort of sick sadistic personal pleasure, I for one would not be best pleased.

Who gives a damn!! These Marines have worse things to worry about. The animal activist are more extreme.... They love animals so much but they give death threats to people or would rather see Marines die in combat.
I've seen blown up camels in Desert Storm, shot up wart hogs in Somalia. If a Marine is hungry then he will hunt it down and kill it.

Take a look at the statistics at the bottom... there is a proven link between animal abuse and human abuse. Obviously a person who is throwing an innocent puppy off a cliff would have no problem killing an innocent person... this is what makes this crime so intolerable!
