I think John McCain is bad for America. Putting that aside: Isn't the article in totally bad taste?
At a minimum they should have explored definitions and other criteria used for qualification. As it stands, I'm not sure whether I'm being told, "McCain is 100% disabled and thus shouldn't be President" or "McCain isn't 100% disabled and should be paying taxes on his pension."
I suspect that whether due to lack of time or lack of interest, the paper chose to run this piece without digging into those details. But that's a shame. I suspect that the investigation would have made clear that McCain's disability rating accurate under the governing standard (perhaps his ability to meet fitness standards as a member of the military) but was never intended to mean that he's incapable of any work.
